About Me
I began my journey in adult education as an adult student. It was there that I observed and experienced the impact of the instructor on the student experience and began my journey toward equipping online instructors to perform at their highest level. I had the distinct privilege of pursuing this as a vocation. Drawing on my experience as a student, I coached adjunct instructors to use online technologies and sound learning theories to bring student and instructor together for a fulfilling and meaningful online teaching and learning experience.
Happily, I am never far from the student experience either. I continue to instruct online undergraduate courses which keeps my instructional skills sharp while also attuning me to the needs and expectations of today's student. I also continue as an online student pursuing my doctorate in higher education administration. As a new generation of students enters the classroom, it is interesting to find that, while many things have changed, the basics of their educational experience needs remain customer service oriented:
- Clear and frequent communication that informs their decisions
- Instructor availability
- Flexibility through asynchronous education
- Applicable learning
When I am not studying, teaching, or designing training, I enjoy cycling and hiking in beautiful Colorado where I live with my husband of 33 years. We have two daughters, a wonderful son in law, and three delightful grandsons. We just added a new grandson - welcome Ayden Quinn!
I am pleased that you dropped by my portfolio and invite you to look around. I hope to "meet" you through your comments or emails and I invite you to visit again soon and often.
